Come to the festive presentation of the magazine Girls Like Us in the museum garden (or inside the museum in case of bad weather). This independent publication brings together voices from art, fashion theory, and activism, from a queer and feminist perspective. This evening features readings, performances, a DJ, and a festive drinks reception. Free admission and no reservation is required!
What is this magazine about?
After eight years of operating as a community project for trans and lesbian people in Brussels and around, Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian* and Trans* Bar* is wrapping up. In preparing for this chapter to close, and thinking of the futures that will open, Mothers & Daughters has created a collective publication in collaboration with Girls Like Us Magazine.
This publication brings together new writing, conversations and visual works from different contributors. It’s our hope that the publication serves as a celebration of Mothers & Daughters, an honouring of those who came before and those who joined us, a vessel for some of our thoughts, an outline of our wild vortex and a gathering place for resources for future trans and lesbian organising in Brussels and beyond.

What is Girls Like Us?
Girls Like Us is an independent publication that focuses on an international community of women and trans people within arts, culture and activism. It features personal stories, essays and visuals that explore feminist legacies and create collaborative paths toward a non-patriarchal future. The magazine is based in Brussels and uses personal narratives and provocative imagery to highlight feminist achievements and legacies in arts and writing. The magazine also explores themes of economies, power and the body, often mixing politics with pleasure.

What is Mothers & Daughters in Brussels?
Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian* and Trans* Bar* Mothers & Daughters is a collective by and for lesbian and trans people that emerged in 2017 from a series of events hosted by Girls Like Us as a lesbian (and since 2019 also explicitly a trans) bar and art space. Since then, Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian* and Trans* Bar* has been creating community spaces for trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and lesbian people in and around Brussels. Now, after nine incredible years—spanning four ephemeral bar appearances, two exhibitions, two signature brews and an epic array of workshops, festivals and events—our journey is coming to a close.
