ENGLISH: A concert adventure around the guitar. In this joint adventure, Michele and Eva take you on a journey through the classical guitar repertoire. They perform original works written for guitar duo and arrangements by composers such as Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Claude Debussy, Felix Mendelssohn, Enrique Granados and Fernando Sor. NEDERLANDS: Een concertavontuur rondom de gitaar. In dit gezamenlijke avontuur nemen Michele en Eva je mee op een reis door het repertoire van de klassieke gitaar. Ze brengen originele werken, geschreven voor gitaarduo en arrangementen van componisten zoals Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Claude Debussy, Felix Mendelssohn, Enrique Granados en Fernando Sor. Duo Encordé is a young classical guitar duo based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Michele Reali and Eva Victoria Schockmel met during their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where they are about to graduate from their respective Master and Bachelor degree in the class of Gabriel Bianco. The concert at the Luther Museum in Amsterdam is their debut as a duo. The name ‘Duo Encordé’ is inspired by the French verb ‘s’encorder’ which refers to the action of securing oneself and one to another with the same rope in mountaineering, and concomitantly encapsulates the noun ‘cordes’ (strings).

Duo Encordé is een jong klassiek gitaarduo gevestigd in Amsterdam. Michele Reali en Eva Victoria Schockmel leerden elkaar kennen tijdens hun studie aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar zij op het punt staan hun respectievelijke Master en Bachelor diploma te behalen in de klas van Gabriel Bianco. Het concert in het Luther Museum in Amsterdam is hun debuut als duo. De naam 'Duo Encordé' is geïnspireerd op het Franse werkwoord 's'encorder', wat verwijst naar het vastknopen van zichzelf en een ander met hetzelfde touw tijdens het bergbeklimmen en omvat tegelijkertijd het zelfstandig naamwoord 'cordes' (snaren).

About the artists/over de artiesten

Michele Reali

Born in Pavia, a small city in Northern Italy, Michele Reali is currently establishing his life in Amsterdam. His first approach with guitar was at 8, through the lens of flamenco music. At 14, he started attending the high school with musical field of his hometown, where thanks to Gaetano Troccoli he got in touch with the world of classical guitar. Besides the guitar, he also plays the saxophone, the piano and the electric guitar. He has matured some experience in the field of film music, composing and producing several soundtracks for amateur short films. During his Bachelor of music, he continued his studies with Giulio Tampalini (Adria Conservatory) and Kristina Vårlid (Prins Claus Conservatorium) for a semester, thanks to the Erasmus+ program. He graduated summa cum laude and with honorous mention at the Adria Conservatory.

Currently, he is carrying out his Master of Music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he studies with Gabriel Bianco. Through the years, he has developed his education and musical view, through the encounter with many international artists. Some of his most significant masterclasses have been with Andrea Dieci, Eliot Fisk, Pavel Steidl, Paolo Pegoraro, Judicaël Perroy, Carlo Marchione and Hubert Käppel. He has performed, both with ensembles and solo, in several prestigious venues, such as Teatro Fraschini (Pavia, both big hall and recital hall), Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Amsterdam), De Roode Bioscoop (Amsterdam) and Aula Magna Collegio Ghislieri (Pavia). Recently, he started to successfully take part in international competitions, and won for example Third Prize at the Dutch Guitar Foundation in 2023.

Michele Reali werd geboren in Pavia, een kleine stad in Noord-Italië. Momenteel is hij gevestigd in Amsterdam. Zijn eerste kennismaking met gitaar was toen hij 8 was, door de lens van flamencomuziek. Op zijn 14e ging hij naar de middelbare school met muzikale richting van zijn geboortestad, waar hij dankzij Gaetano Troccoli in contact kwam met de wereld van de klassieke gitaar. Naast gitaar speelt hij ook saxofoon, piano en elektrische gitaar. Hij heeft ervaring opgedaan op het gebied van filmmuziek, door het componeren en produceren van verschillende soundtracks voor amateur korte films. Tijdens zijn bachelor muziek studeerde hij bij Giulio Tampalini (Adria Conservatorium) en een semester verder bij Kristina Vårlid (Prins Claus Conservatorium), dankzij het Erasmus+ programma. Hij studeerde summa cum laude en met een eervolle vermelding af aan het Adria Conservatorium. Momenteel volgt hij zijn Master of Music aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam, waar hij studeert bij Gabriel Bianco. Door de jaren heen heeft hij zijn opleiding en muzikale visie ontwikkeld door de ontmoeting met vele internationale artiesten. Enkele van zijn belangrijkste masterclasses waren bij Andrea Dieci, Eliot Fisk, Pavel Steidl, Paolo Pegoraro, Judicaël Perroy, Carlo Marchione en Hubert Käppel. Hij trad op, zowel met ensembles als solo, in verschillende prestigieuze zalen, zoals Teatro Fraschini (Pavia, zowel grote zaal als concertzaal), Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ (Amsterdam), De Roode Bioscoop (Amsterdam) en Aula Magna Collegio Ghislieri (Pavia). Sinds kort neemt hij met succes deel aan internationale concoursen, en won bijvoorbeeld de Derde Prijs bij de Dutch Guitar Foundation in 2023.

Eva Victoria Schockmel

Born in Luxembourg in 2001, Eva Victoria Schockmel has been playing the guitar since the age of seven. She started her musical education at the Conservatoire de la Musique de la Ville d’Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg, where she attended various classes such as guitar, percussion, drumset, chamber music and choir conducting. She has been taking masterclasses with renowned artists such as Marcin Dylla, Raphaël Feuillâtre, Eliot Fisk, Thibaut Garcia, René Izquierdo and Judicaël Perroy. Since September 2021, Eva has been pursuing her Bachelor studies in classical guitar at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class of Gabriel Bianco. She is a member of several ensembles, such as the mandolin orchestras Ensemble à Plectre Municipal d’Esch-sur-Alzette and Il Forum Musicale, the quintet Ensemble Fides and Duo Encordé. In 2022, Eva was honoured to play as a soloist with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Carlo Jans as well as with the Luxembourg Military Band under the direction of Jean-Claude Braun. She has participated in international guitar competitions and has notably been awarded the special prize for best interpretation of the mandatory piece in the finals of the Antwerpen Gitaarfestival in 2023.

Ze begon haar muzikale opleiding aan het Conservatoire de la Musique de la Ville d'Esch-sur- Alzette, Luxemburg, waar ze verschillende lessen volgde zoals gitaar, percussie, drumstel, kamermuziek en koordirectie. Ze volgde masterclasses bij gerenommeerde artiesten zoals Marcin Dylla, Raphaël Feuillâtre, Eliot Fisk, Thibaut Garcia, René Izquierdo en Judicaël Perroy. Sinds september 2021 volgt Eva haar bachelorstudie klassiek gitaar aan het Conservatorium van Amsterdam in de klas van Gabriel Bianco. Ze is lid van verschillende ensembles, zoals de mandolineorkesten Ensemble à Plectre Municipal d'Esch-sur-Alzette en Il Forum Musicale, het kwintet Ensemble Fides en Duo Encordé. In 2022 had Eva de eer om te spelen als soliste met het Filharmonisch Orkest van Luxemburg onder leiding van Carlo Jans en met de Luxemburgse Militaire Kapel onder leiding van Jean-Claude Braun. Ze heeft deelgenomen aan internationale gitaarconcoursen en ontving in het bijzonder de speciale prijs voor beste interpretatie van het verplichte stuk in de finale van het Gitaarfestival Antwerpen in 2023.
